VegaFina launched the Nicaragua line with one clear ambition: to make a serious Nicaraguan puro that stood on its own merits. It did exactly that. Rated 89 by Cigar Aficionado and built exclusively from Nicaraguan tobacco, it quickly became a European bestseller and it's not hard to understand why once you light one.

The tobacco in this cigar comes entirely from Nicaragua's two most celebrated growing regions: Estelí and Jalapa. Ligero, Seco and Viso leaves are selected and blended, then aged for four years before the cigar is ever rolled. That's not common in this price bracket. The result is a smoke with a depth and consistency that experienced cigar smokers notice immediately.

The Habano 2000 wrapper is dark caramel-brown, smooth and slightly oily a beautiful leaf that sets the tone before you've taken your first draw. From the first light, you get wood and spice hitting the palate with real presence, followed by clove and vanilla that soften things just enough. Through the body, a slightly sweet molasses note comes through alongside a pleasant nuttiness. It's a rich, velvety smoke medium to full in strength, with an intensity that builds steadily rather than overwhelming. The draw is clean, the burn is even, and you'll get a solid 45 to 50 minutes from the 5 x 50 Robusto format.

Sealed in an aluminium tube, it travels well and makes an excellent gift for anyone who takes their cigars seriously.
